Somebody To Lean On

Inside a rural Ohio prison, a group of men gather on Wednesdays to do something unexpected: sing. SOMEBODY TO LEAN ON follows the Harmony Project choir as they rehearse “Lean On Me,” 50 years after Bill Withers wrote the song. And the process breaks down walls: between different POVs, between inside and outside, between who someone was and who they might become. Entirely in participants’ voices, SOMEBODY is a quiet counter-argument to division: that transformation can start by simply showing up.
