About Us

History:
Indie Film Force, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization was created in 2005 when filmmaker Louis Gurgitano decided that a world-class city like Charlotte should not miss out on the cultural wealth a film festival could bring. Gurgitano, and a core group of volunteers, soon began planning the first event which attracted approximately 2,000 people. Within three years, the Festival has doubled its attendance and drawn more than 90 filmmakers while screening more than 200 films and documentaries.

Today:
The Charlotte Film Festival provides a cultural hub for established and emerging film-artists to showcase their works to the region's top producers, peers, investors and viewers. Within the past four years, the Charlotte Film Festival has continued to grow attracting filmmakers locally, regionally, nationally and internationally as well as festival goers and enthusiasts from Charlotte, North Carolina and nearby states.
