Entry Rules

  • Submission starts and deadline dates

    Open entry period starts October 23, 2007.
    Early deadline is December 31, 2007.
    Regular deadline is March 1, 2008.
    Late deadline is April 15, 2008.
    The extended and final deadline for Withoutabox entries is May 15, 2008.

    Entries must be postmarked by the deadline dates.
  • Entry fees are non-refundable.
  • Preview copies must be submitted in NTSC format DVD (Region 0, Region 1, or Region Free).
    Do NOT send film reels, original material, or videos in PAL format.
  • Exhibition copies must be submitted in NTSC format DVD (Region 0, Region 1, or Region Free), NTSC format HD CAM tapes, or MP4 format saved with the highest quality setting possible within a maximum file size of 4.5 GB.
  • A completed entry form and appropriate fee (payable to Indie Film Force, Inc. in U.S. dollars only) must accompany your entry.
  • Neither preview nor exhibition copies of entries will be returned, unless accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope.
  • Eligible works must have been completed after January 1, 2006 and must not have been publicly screened in the Charlotte , North Carolina area prior to the 2008 festival dates.
  • Accepted running times are as follows:
    NARRATIVE
    and DOCUMENTARY FEATURES: 50 minutes or longer
    NARRATIVE , DOCUMENTARY , and STUDENT SHORTS: 49 minutes or shorter
  • Works in Progress are accepted only if submitted by the regular deadline. 'Work in Progress' or 'Rough Cut' must be clearly marked on the videotape or DVD. The final cut must be RECEIVED by May 15, 2008 . Entry fees will not be refunded for entries that fail to submit a final cut by the required date.
  • Projects in a foreign language must have English subtitles prior to submission.
  • You may only submit one copy of each work for consideration. We will not replace your original submission with an upgraded version after the deadline unless your work is selected for exhibition during the festival.
  • All works selected must be available by September 1, 2008 for inclusion in the festival.
  • If you are entering a student film, you MUST include a copy of the student's I.D. with your entry package. The student needs to be credited in the film as Director, Writer, and/or Producer.
